4: Portarlington 2006
What a fantastic weekend; sun shining, music playing,
and a relaxed, and a really exciting atmosphere
for the 20th anniversary of the Portarlington triathlon.
Beginning with the clinic (tips and tricks and cycling)
on Saturday, Tri Alliance and all its members had a
very successful and enjoyable weekend, with everyone
participating to the best of their ability, great results
and personal achievements.
To mention a few: congratulations to Mitch Dedman
winning the Brooks race again and very convincingly
I might add. Nicole Wallis first podium, winning her
age group. Well done to Jacinta from Geelong winning
her category great racing in the Brooks . Simon Raffity….next
time........., pink goggles and all. Congratulations
to all those who had their first race or are getting
back into it following injury good to see you out there.
In the Gatorade event we also had some very positive
results with lots of PB’s again, congratulations
to all great racing. A few special mentions: Georgina
Hagan having a great come back race, placing 2nd in
the Elite category beaten only by a Swedish ITU competitor, Samantha
Mc Henry, a fantastic race winning her age group and
first age group female over the line, Claudio Abru
again a speedy race, Meg Russel winning her category
again and right up there in the age group field. Belinda
Harrison after a large training block racing well placing
4th in the Elites.
Other special mentions to Rohan B welcome back after
achillis injury, good to see you back out on the course.
Sue Shaw congratulations on your great race following
some very useful run technique tips from Tony Benson. Alex
Archer, had a huge improvement moving up in her
category to just outside the places.
Congratulations to all Trialliance competitors, awesome
effort with your race and encouragement of each other
which is wonderful to see. Thankyou to Rapido
Cycles Trialliance bike sponsor for putting on a huge
BBQ following the event, assuring that everyone was
well fed, thanks for your support. It was also good
to see Tamika coming down to the event to support everyone
and be part of the day after being unwell. Great to
see you Tamika, we are all here to support you and
wish our Trialliance champion a speedy recovery.
On a sad note we greatly missed Brett Garth at the
race this weekend, due to the passing of his Mum, all
our thoughts and love are with you Brett, take care.
Next race is in two weeks, and we look forward to
another spectacular day at Elwood. We look forward
to seeing you there.
