Race 4: Portarlington 2006

What a fantastic weekend; sun shining, music playing, and a relaxed, and a really  exciting atmosphere for the 20th anniversary of the Portarlington triathlon. Beginning with the clinic (tips and tricks and cycling) on Saturday, Tri Alliance and all its members had a very successful and enjoyable weekend, with everyone participating to the best of their ability, great results and personal achievements.

To mention a few: congratulations to Mitch Dedman winning the Brooks race again and very convincingly I might add. Nicole Wallis first podium, winning her age group. Well done to Jacinta from Geelong winning her category great racing in the Brooks . Simon Raffity….next time........., pink goggles and all. Congratulations to all those who had their first race or are getting back into it following injury good to see you out there.

In the Gatorade event we also had some very positive results with lots of PB’s again, congratulations to all great racing. A few special mentions: Georgina Hagan having a great come back race, placing 2nd in the Elite category beaten only by a Swedish ITU competitor,  Samantha Mc Henry, a fantastic race winning her age group and first age group female over the line, Claudio Abru again a speedy race, Meg Russel winning her category again and right up there in the age group field. Belinda Harrison after a large training block racing well placing 4th in the Elites.

Other special mentions to Rohan B welcome back after achillis injury, good to see you back out on the course. Sue Shaw congratulations on your great race following some very useful run technique tips from Tony Benson.  Alex Archer, had a  huge improvement moving up in her category to just outside the places.

Congratulations to all Trialliance competitors, awesome effort with your race and encouragement of each other which is wonderful to see.  Thankyou to Rapido Cycles Trialliance bike sponsor for putting on a huge BBQ following the event, assuring that everyone was well fed, thanks for your support. It was also good to see Tamika coming down to the event to support everyone and be part of the day after being unwell. Great to see you Tamika, we are all here to support you and wish our Trialliance champion a speedy recovery.

On a sad note we greatly missed Brett Garth at the race this weekend, due to the passing of his Mum, all our thoughts and love are with you Brett, take care.

Next race is in two weeks, and we look forward to another spectacular day at Elwood. We look forward to seeing you there.
