Tri
Alliance Athletes and coach to join VIS and EAS Programs.
We
are pleased to announce that Tameka Day Emily Rooke
and Lynne Duthie have been awarded scholarships into
the Victorian Institute of Sport for 2005/2006. These
scholarships were offered to them after very good, but
also very consistent performances this season –
these three athletes are to be congratulated for their
achievements and this selection into the highest institute
program is recognition of their hard work and great
season.
Lynne
has received a Full Scholarship. This was consolidated
after her great race ay the National Schools Champs
and her performances in the VSSSA Races. Her scholarship
includes national airfares and accommodation, race entry
fees, sports science research and testing, sports rehab,
sports massage, sports medic, full VIS Squad uniform
and use ofthe High Performance Training Facility at
the VIS at Olympic Park.
Tameka
has received an Associate Scholarship. This was secured
after her great performances during the National Series
Races which secured her 3rd spot in the National Elite
Series and gave her an ITU Ranking inside the Top 60
and a National Points Table Ranking inside the Top 10.
Her scholarship includes sports science research and
testing, sports rehab, sports massage, sports medic,
and use of the High Performance Training Facility at
the VIS at Olympic Park. At this stage it does not include
any financial assistance as she is outside the Triathlon
Australia Elite Development Guidelines (Under 23), but
she will receive financial support where possible from
the VIS and the Geelong High Performance Triathlon Program.
Emily
has been granted another opportunity to show she has
the talent we know she has and will receive a full scholarship
with all the entitlements that Lynne receives.
For
those who don’t know Emily has begun training
with the Geelong Squad in a bid to return to the form
that saw her have race wins over the last couple of
years. Emily is in 3rd Year with the VIS Program and
we all wish her and the others all the best of luck.
Michelle
Augustynek has been accepted in to the Emerging Athletes
Program (EAS). This program is designed to nurture &
prepare athletes, aged 15 to 23years, for participation
and competition at the elite level,
through a ‘network’ of Home Coaches, Triathlon
Victoria & the Victorian Institute of Sport.
Once
again – well done the Tameka and Lynne, and I
am sure they will do Tri-alliance proud.
