Triathlon 2006 Report
Noosa Race Photo's |
|
|
| |
Well another fantastic Noosa experience come and gone and we have had a bit of a mixed bag, but overall some fantastic results. The day started out very overcast conditions – but as the race got underway it became very warm in the sun and the heat played a factor. It wasn’t the searing heat of past years, but it was hot none the less. |

2006
Victorian Sprint Distance Triathlon Championships
Hi
Team,
Today
was the running of the 2006 Victorian Sprint
Distance Triathlon Championships held at
Elwood and we had some more sensational
results today.
In
what proved to be a sign of much bigger
things to come little Lynne Duthie stunned
the entire women’s elite field to
not only catch them but run away with the
women’s victory by over a minute from
Hungarian competitor and ITU ranked Tracey
Looze and perennial bridesmaid Vanessa Hentchel.
It was certainly something that I
was privileged to watch today as was all
her team mates – well done Lynne! More........ |

Race
Report
Well
in one of the biggest openings to a domestic
season I have ever been involved in –
I must say what an effort by all involved
at Tri Alliance over the course of the
weekend. It started on Saturday
in absolutely fine weather with the first
timer’s clinic that Tri Alliance
run for free attracting over 100 people.
Madness. It was fantastic to see
so many new comers to the sport but also
a few from last year who might have just
wanted to freshen up their skills and
knowledge. The clinic and
set up was first class as was the usual
event put on by the Race organizers –
Supersprint.

WOW!!!!
What an awesome experience Noosa was.
After 12 months ago saying to Ben that
l was going to do this race, l still can’t
really believe that l have now completed
it. It’s still a bit surreal for
me, but at the same time, l’am so
proud of myself for having done it. More........

Honolulu
- I am here for the World Age Group Championships
and it's only my 3rd Olympic distance race.
I question what's wrong with this picture?
There's a lot right with this picture -
it's Hawaii, there is sun, sand, palm trees
and the place is buzzing with healthy looking
athletes from around the globe. I'm already
sensing that I'm about to have the experience
of a lifetime. More........ |

Athletes From Tri Alliance Excepted into the VIS.
It
is with great pleasure that I can announce finally
and most importantly ‘officially’ that
3 Geelong Tri-alliance Athletes – Lynne Duthie,
Emily Rooke and Tameka Day have been accepted in the
Victorian Institute of Sport Triathlon Program for
Season 2005/2006. This is fantastic news for those
3 athletes as they have worked extremely hard to improve
their performances and be consistent high performers.
It is a fantastic achievement for Tri Alliance to
have 3 females in the VIS program come from the one
group.
Well
done to all involved. More.......... |

Tri
Alliance Win's Triathlon Australia Coaching Tender
Triathlon
Australia last month placed out a tender to all the
coaches Australia wide. The tender's initiative is to
help the Australian world champion age group teams (long
course, Olympic, and duathlon) with the support of a
coaching network. As a result Tri Alliance won the tender
for the Olympic distance and duathlon teams.
Tri
Alliance would like to take this opportunity to thank
you for choosing our services to help prepare the Australian
teams for both Duathlon and Olympic Distance Events.
We look forwards to working with all of you to achieve
a common goal.
We
also would like to encourage as much input from all
parties so we can ensure a successful program to help
team Australia’s performance over the next 6 months.
With this in mind our attitude is to work with both
athletes and their coaches as one so that we as an Australian
team can achieve Triathlon greatness.

Australian
All Schools Championships 2005.
The
race was held at The Olympic Rowing Course at Penrith
about an hour outside Sydney provided the perfect backdrop
for arguably Tri-alliance’s greatest individual
effort this year. Perfect weather and a great course
also was a big highlight. With the best 25 under 19
athletes selected from each state in Australia totaling
25 in the field, including 3 Australian Junior Team
Members, it was fair to say Lynne was up against it
and would need to race very well.

Belinda
Harrison has become Tri-alliance’s first female
athlete to qualify for the Hawaiian Ironman
Just
letting you all know that my race report for our New
Zealand Ironman trip will be taking a few days longer
than expected as we ended up having a few more DELAYS
than usual.
Of
course it would be remiss of me not mention quickly
that our own Belinda Harrison has become Tri-alliance’s
first female athlete to qualify for the Hawaiian Ironman
Triathlon World Championships later this year by finishing
2nd in the 25 – 29 age group and 13th place overall
out of the entire female field. Just a great effort
from one of the hardest working athletes around.
Look
out for Belinda this week in the Geelong Advertiser.
And
stay tuned for the trip report.

Victorian
Sprint Distance Championships and The Geelong Corporate
Triathlon.
Today
at beautiful sunny Geelong, what a perfect day it was
to host the Victorian Sprint Distance Championships
and The Geelong Corporate Triathlon.
I
arrived there at 6.00am to be greeted by swarms of mosquito's
the like of which I have seen. The race organizers
were giving out free Aeroguard it was that bad and yes
it was THAT BAD. Once the sun came up however
it was all shine and ready for a race start.
And
what a day it was for Tri-alliance. We had so many podium
finishes you'll have to excuse me if I don't mention
you all in this report as I'm doing all this off memory.
Special
mentions must go to all Tri-alliance competitors who
raced as it was a great team turnout and a great day
for team all-over

Tasmania
was an ITU World Cup
Today
in Tasmania was an ITU World Cup Points Race also known
as – The International Hobart Triathlon which
was held over a tough Olympic Distance Course (1.5km
Swim / 40km Ride / 10km Run). With some of the world’s
best female triathlete's again racing, Tri-alliance’s
own Tameka Day finished in 4th spot in the Elite Female
Section behind race winner Emma Snowsill, Felicity Abrams
and American Barb Lindquist. Tameka was only 20 seconds
behind Lindquist at the finish. She finished ahead of
Athens and Sydney Olympians Nicole Hackett and Maxine
Seear, with Pip Taylor, Nikki Egyed rounding out the
top 15. It was a truly great field.
The
question must now be asked – just how far can
this girl go………………………..?
