TRI ALLIANCE-NEWS

Great News, World triathlon Championships in Madeira.

Tri-alliance has again produced the goods at the World triathlon Championships in Madeira. Sophie Joynes who is one of our interstate athletes has repeated what our very own Tameka Day did last year by capturing the Silver Medal in the 20 – 24 age group. This is Sophie’s first World Champs. This is truly a great effort from this very talented athlete.

Lisa Nelson had an excellent race with a placing 15th in the 25 to 29 female age group with an impressive 33.17 run to bring her back through the field with the fourth fastest run split.

Tiffany had a great race finishing in 41st spot in the 20-24 age group, after enduring a very tough bike leg. Our other athlete in this race was the always persistent Sheree who on the day gave 110% but did it tough on the day to finish in 62nd spot. This was a great result from these two girls considering the tough course. I hope everybody congratulates them on their efforts and we all look forward to having them all home soon. You can check out all the results on the website below, or look on the Tri Australia website and go through the links.

Arti Shaw (Jodi Manions Better half) and also the man to direct all your telstra complaints to has finished the Aus Ironman in 12hrs.24mins after a rotten run with illness over the past 6 - 8 weeks. Arti's time was only 8 minutes slower than last year and considering his health problems and the fact that there was a non wetsuit swim this was a sensational effort. Well Done Arti. I'm sure that with some good luck and no some EARLY NIGHTS down at Tidal Place a sub 11hr is on the cards in the near future.

Over in Perth Kristy and Nikita have both finished competing for Victoria in the Australian Secondary Schools National Champs. Kristy finished 12th in the Under19 after having a blinder of ride. Nikita finished 15th in the Under14 after putting in 3 good legs. These efforts are sensational considering there were up against the best juniors in Aus.

Just today they both competed in the teams sections where each puts in there 3 best athletes from each age group. Kristy's under 19 team won the gold medal after Kristy put in another supa ride. Nikita's team finished 4th after also trying very hard.

These efforts by the girls were super considering all the work they have had to just get in the team. I congratulate them.

Happy resting to everbody and if your still training - keep going there's not long to go.

Cheers

Jarrod

Congratulations To Our Juniors

In some of the best news of the year Kristy Hardman and Nikita Pollen, two of our super juniors have been named in the VSSSA Victorian Team

to compete at the Australian Schools Championships in Perth on April 4th.

This is a great effort from these two who have put in hours of training before and after school and weekends to get the chance to the Big V. For anyones info about 1% of all school kids in Victoria will ever get this opportunity - so I congratulate them both on their hard work and I hope everyone takes the opportunity to congratulate them on this achievement.

Fantastic Effort - Well Done

Gatorade Elwood Race 5

What a fantastic race at Elwood with some 2000 competitors and fine conditions for the day. Tri Alliance was the prize sponsor providing some great prizes for all the category winners. Congratulations to all those Tri Alliance athletes who participated within the event. There were some wonderful results, individually and competitively, from those who completed their first event to those who placed in their category, well done. Congratulations to Tameka Day and Georgina Hagan for placing 1st and 2nd respectively in the elite female category. With only one race to go in the series we look forward to some good training and some fantastic racing.
